The long awaited fabulous Mandarin Oriental Taipei has finally opened. I couldn't wait to try their Italian cuisine.

The hallway emanated such exquisite elegance and opulence.

The seating was beautiful,plush and comfortable.

We ordered the three course meal 

There were four types of bread and they were all excellent. 

First course, we ordered the insalata caprese and grilled octopus. The caprese salad was exceptionally fresh.

For the second course, we ordered the oxtail ragout and Italian meatball spaghetti. Both of these pasta dishes were utterly amazing. 

For our main courses, we ordered the rack of lamb and fresh catch of the day, sea bass. However to our dismay both of these entrees failed to compete with the previous pastas. The fish didn't taste very fresh and the lamb was very chewy. 

After the meal our tea and desserts were brought out. 

The panna cotta was incredible. It was creamy and milky, and perfectly blended with the slight tartness from the berries and sorbet. 

The sundae was very ordinary to say the least. 

All in all Bencotto definitely had a few dishes that would make me come back with some friends for a luncheon. It's a perfect place to catch up with friends, with its beautiful design and plush and luxurious decor.
